Desecation - Desecation EP 2022

From this young and up-and-coming death metal group we have a stunning 5-song EP that is full of catchy grooves, tempo changes, and viscous slams, all wrapped up in a nice package of bludgeoning, intense, blasting, and addicting death/slam/old school death metal.

Now when I say young, I mean young!

The band is made up of 5 friends growing up together in San Diego and writing and playing shows, going to school, and just having fun!

The ages of the members spans from 14-20 years old!  For a group of such young kids to have this kind of sound is what stands out to me!  It is a refreshing mix of older Death Metal and the newer breakdowns and slams, but with perfectly raw production!

Todd Novoa - Guitars

Ecchymosis Interview - 2017

Hello and thank you for taking the time to talk with Cerebral Reviewment!
Wasumit : Hello Cerebral Reviewment, and everyone! My pleasure to be interviewed by you!
Polwach : Hey there!
Can you start by stating who you are and your role in the band?
Wasumit : I’m Wasumit, bassist. And of course the latest member of the band.
Polwach : Polwach, drummer. Anal.
How long has each band member been doing their particular craft?
Wasumit : Good question, trying to see how professional we are or what? Just kidding bro, OK, let’s start with me first. I have been playing bass for around 12 years now, I played normal stuff at first, and became a BDM bass player in 2008 (since I joined Intricated, another local band) and the bass humiliation way started from there. Twish can also play bass, as a guitarist he started when he was in high-school.
Polwach : I started doing drums when I was like 14, so around 14 years ago. I just realized I’ve spent the half of my life playing kits. Can’t remember when I started playing blastbeats tho. Maybe like 12 years ago or so…
Can you tell us about the history of Ecchymosis?  I know the band is still young, but have you had to endure any line-up changes?
Polwach : I formed Ecchymosis in January 2014 with Weerasak (vocalist) as he asked me if I was interested to play some sloppy and shitty BDM.  In search for a guitarist, we found Twish (already in the same goregrind same band as Polwach, Cystgurgle) around October that year. We released a demo in the same year. In 2015 we recorded a promo demo. Thanks to Peter (Dissevered) for sending the promo track to Daniel (New Standard Elite), we then got signed to the label in September 2015. We played without bass for some time until we got Wasumit as the bassist of the band in November 2016.
What are the main differences between the first two demos and the full length?  Obviously, production values change and budgets change, but you always stuck to a pretty raw approach, which we true fans appreciate.  What was the mindset like, after signing to New Standard Elite, as far as having access to new production/recording techniques and options?
Polwach : Actually the first demo is different from the second demo as well. Everything you hear in the first demo is improvisational. We didn’t write those songs. Unlike the second demo, we wrote the song prior to the recording session. The songs on both demos only consist of drums, 1 line guitar, and vocals. No bass at all. In the full-length we got more “professional” (eh…don’t wanna use that word haha), recording drums, guitars, vocals, and of course bass, but as you said, we have been keeping it raw all the time. Raw sound is surely our main focus. I’d say that the mindset has been constant. Raw and sloppy approach.
What are your lyrics about?  What is the writing process for new songs like?
Disgusting shit hahah. Morbid sexual intercourses with rotten corpses. Shit like that. We don’t want to get different lyrically. Just want to keep the gory concept that brutal death metal delivers. For all the previous songs we wrote our songs in the rehearsal room. First I came up with drum patterns or Twish came up with guitar patterns, then Weerasak came up with vocal patterns, then I and Weerasak came up with lyrics. The new songs will feature our new bassist Wasumit. They will be written in the same way the old songs were in, the only change is that Wasumit will also throw in ideas for guitar patterns as well. Simple process huh?

Walk me through a day in the life of Ecchymosis.
Getting up, drinking beer, jamming shit. That pretty much sums it up.
How is the scene in Bangkok currently?
Wasumit : Pretty good, not big but very strong, been like this for years. Fans are always supportive, every time we have shows they come, not many but very quality audiences. Every overseas band that came to play here they said like “Man, Fans here are insane, haha”. We also start to have a few new bands from the younger generation as well, and they are good. Love to see them getting stronger and stronger.
Polwach : Man, love being in it.
Can you give fans one lesser-known band, out of Bangkok, that you would suggest checking out?
Wasumit : Sorry can’t pick only one, can I suggest more? Coz there is a lot of good bands from Bangkok, Thailand such as, Imbrued Blemishment, A Good Day For Killing (they are on hold now), Psychopathy, Tortured Animals, Pathological Sadism, Affective Psychosis and of course, my another band, Intricated XD Check them out !
How much do you like beer?
Wasumit : Fucking lots! Me and Polwach are really into craft beer, Weerasak joined in recently. IPA is our fav, really dig it. Our passion about craft beer is phenomenal, Twish is not quite a beer maniac but he can drink. We always try to have a mini party with the band members, all about beer of course!
Polwach : You can throw good beer in my funeral. I will rot in it.
How does the band feel about President Donald Trump?
Wasumit : He looks like Donald Dumb instead of Donald Trump, that’s it and not any more comments. Please don’t get us involved politics haha XD
Any last words to your fans?
Wasumit : Only one word but from the deepest bottom of our hearts ! THANK YOU for all the supports and spreading the word about us! YOU GUYS RULE AS FUCK!!

Polwach : Thank you so much for digging us. Your support is beyond the best! Guys our gratitude can’t be described in words. Thank you thank you thank you very much. Our appreciation also goes to Daniel Osborn and New Standard Elite for everything you’ve done for us. By the way dude I checked out your blog, fucking awesome shit! Really detailed and interesting reviewing contents. Unlike some idiot in the scene whom I think you can guess. ;) Thank you for conducting the interview with us. Goes greatly appreciated! Cheers!!!!!

Ecchymosis - Aberrant Amusement in Cadaveric Vomitplay - 2016 - New Standard Elite

Ecchymosis, a four-piece out of Bangkok, Thailand, is churning out some raw and exciting Brutal Death Metal that true fans should not miss.
Formed in 2014, the band signed to New Standard Elite in September of 2015.
Now, in early 2017, we've heard two short demos, and have been blessed with this full-length.
'Aberrant Amusement' is self-proclaimed, sloppy, brutal death that is filthy, groovy, and perfectly simplistic when it needs to be.
The ping of the snare definitely stands out even more than this genre usually merits. You'll love it or hate it. For me, I absolutely love it.  The way the guitars are mixed in could be more in the forefront. They just seem so thin. I'm being picky though, after hundreds of listens, it definitely does not detract from the over-all feel of the album.
Drums are precise and wonderfully punctuated by high-hats and blasts.  Vocals are simple, but work surprisingly well, considering their lack of dynamic.  Straight-forward, nasty, toilet bowl lows and gurgles all the way through.  Perhaps a perfect example of honing ones craft while not over-doing things.
Each instrument is so tight with the whole band.  These guys know what they are doing.
Raw production values are what makes this fun from start to finish.  Static-y guitars, surprise harmonics, tempo changes   No riff is boring.

The self-titled 2014 demo, limited to 200 copies and released under Swallow Vomit Productions, was raw  and un-polished. Maybe too much so, making it come off as rushed and lacking the certain intricacies that 'Aberrant Amusement' has sprinkled throughout.
Now, we hear a warmer, more put together production.  The bands precision and skill-set can be easily distinguished, and most importantly, enjoyed.
Also, these are very humble, great dudes.  In a genre that is so over-saturated with fakes and phonies, it is extremely awakening and refreshing when a band is this obvious and, seemingly effortless, in their intention.  That intention comes off as making music they love, keeping things raw, real, and honest, all while having fun.
Now, I realize I've been out of the loop for a while, and a lot of people these days may have a totally different sound come to mind when it comes to BDM.  Maybe I'm just old.  I'll take that one on the chin.  I will, however, say this; if you are doing ANYTHING just for attention and/or shock value, please reevaluate your craft!  I think this is sound advice for any age group and any craft.  In this particular case, Ecchymosis are doing things perfectly!
The hollow, tinny, pingy snare is perfect.  The low, solid, caveman-esque vocals are perfectly accommodating for every instruments addition to the ebb and flow of this album.   Interesting tempo changes with fun and flawless transitions make for a wonderful listening experience.
As a whole package, this album delivers it all.  If you like one thing about it, you will love the whole thing.  Add to that the disgusting lyrical content and detailed, off-the-wall artwork, and you've got the total, nasty little package.

Ecchymosis - Discoloration of the skin resulting from bleeding underneath the skins surface.

Abberant - Departing from accepted norms.
Amusement - The act of amuse. - Amuse - To pleasantly hold attention.
Cadaveric - Having to do with a dead body or corpse.
Vomitplay - A made-up junction referring to enthusiastically playing with vomit.

Delusional Parasitosis - Ingurgitating Intestinal Rot - New Standard Elite 2014

Artwork by Daemorph ( Moscow, Russia)

This album was first planned to be released via Inherited Suffering Records. After some disagreements between the band and said label, Delusional Parasitosis left the label on their own will. Some months later, they signed on with New Standard Elite, a label that, quite frankly, fits them so much better. This is raw Brutal Death Metal with a progressive edge. This album seems to reveal new little pieces of itself upon every listen. I try to listen to anything that I'm going to review on multiple speaker setups. For example: my car, speakers in the echoey bathroom, the phone, and my usual favorite; a nice pair of headphones.
After an insane amount of listens to this 22 minute debut ( 5 of those minutes are two bonus tracks ), I have come to one simple conclusion. Ingurgitating Intestinal Rot is a must-have for anyone into Brutal Death Slammage.
Hailing from Michigan, maybe it's the constantly changing seasons that helps Delusional Parasitosis to keep things real. Honest songwriting, that's not out to shock just for the sake of shocking, or try to impress anyone, soon becomes shockingly impressive.
The one thing you'll hear that you'll either love or hate, is the use a crazy-fast double bass drum. I love it, it's one of the oddities to the album that pushes it forward and keeps it memorable.
The groove of the guitar riffs (Christopher Oess, Lee Mullis), mixed with what the drummer is doing, is insane.  Drummer Alex Mx is full of excellent surprises.
Vocalist James Shuster does what he does best here, every kind of extreme guttural vocal under the sun. His key? Solidity and consistency. Over the span of 20 minutes, you hear classic BDM vocals, pornogrindish gurgles and burps, predators, and definitely a few other disgusting noises, all done without falter. Vocal styles are tastefully changed to coincide with the pace and vibe of wherever the song may be.
Now, for the cult following of snare drums.
The snare tone has become something of a real "Feather-In-The-Cap" of any brutal death metal recording nowadays, so I'll address it. *Clears Throat* On Ingurgitating Intestinal Rot, the tone of one of the drums, known as a 'snare', is very nice. How's that?

My one complaint may be a great thing to others, that double bass sounding so mechanical. I think that's probably what a lot of people will like most about this record. It definitely stands out, and it's growing on me.
Overall, this album has that one main quality that so many lack today; the element of surprise. The creativity of the writing here, matched with the artists' sheer talent and ability to bring fruition to those creations, allows for constant entertainment. An extremely groovy and addictive part is just around the bend in every song.
Dismorphic Transmutation would be a nice, short introduction to this band. It has a lot of that raw, untouched feel that we all love so much. What at first May sound like lackluster recording and production qualities will quickly prove to be a simple pleasure, coming across as clear and warm. Everything is at its perfect level.
Pick this album up!

Parasitic Ejaculation - Echoes of Depravity - Amputated Vein Records - 2014

Artwork: TONY KOEHL

Echoes of Depravity is the second full-length from Californian outfit Parasitic Ejaculation.
The band has also released a considerable amount of material on splits or demos.
It seems as though every member of Parasitic Ejaculation has mastered their individual craft and, over time, have coalesced into a rather original brutal death/slam band, in a world that has been over-saturated with copies and copies of whatever people think sounds the most brutal.  Well, Echoes of Depravity not only provides soundscapes far beyond 'brutal', but it is a much-welcome retreat from the boredom that has become Brutal Death Metal.
I could sit here and write about how the subtle nuances of the guitar playfully frolic with the blasts and how I wished the bass was a little further forward in the mix.  In fact, I have written many a review in that ilk.  They are fun to write and you can easily get away with sounding like you are smart.  Truth is, I am as smart as the next genius, and I'll just say it like I hear it; Echoes of Depravity is the best and grossest splat of (infected) jizz from Parasitic Ejaculation thus far, and possibly of the year.
Jonathan Neel commands full attention and displays the most improvement from previous efforts.  The range of his vocals throughout this album is wide enough to have you wondering if it's all him even when it is.  There are a couple guest vocalists though.  Bill Foster (Short Bus Pile Up), and Jeremy Scott (Logistic Slaughter) both appear on the album, i just won't tell you where.

Michael Mostachetti's riffing on the guitar is simply the catchiest shit of 2014.  Parts of this album have some very, very experimental guitar work.  As always, one of my favorite aspects of this group, is the shaky, powerful bass tone coming from bassist Josh Schwartz.  It is also perfectly mixed in to let each stroke, pluck, or slap be heard with ease.  The dude has chops.  Donovan Dettle, drums, stays simple at times and then gets very creative at others, something becoming harder to find.  Nothing is out of place and songs flow very well together.
Production has taken an obvious step forward, which may lead some fans astray.  I mean, after-all, if you appreciate a band's production sound past their first release, you aren't raw.  You're fully-cooked.  What?
The clarity of the production here only aids the listener in hearing all the details in the music.
Also amazing are the lyrics!!  The lyrics are incredibly well thought-out, evil, disgusting, and just fun to read!  When you read along while listening, you really get to see how good this vocalist is.
That being said, I will take this time to tell the band to please rename "Parasitic Spinal Mutation" to "P.R.E.A.M."

Parts of Echoes are very technical, slams are prevalent, and the songwriting is creative and fun.
The passion is there.  Buy this album.

Asphyxiate - Self Transform From Decayed Flesh - 2013 - New Standard Elite

Art by Jonrinz Art

I interviewed Asphyxiate (HERE) before I had even heard more than one song from this album.
THIS SONG
I had hoped that the whole album would be as brutal and addicting as that one song.  Was I right?

I must be getting good at predicting these things.  Asphyxiate have produced what they promised, a return back to the roots of Indonesian brutality that is sure to have any Brutal Death Metal fan banging their head in recognition and agreement.
"Self Transform From Decayed Flesh" would have stood above many other 2013 releases on riffage and songwriting alone.  Giving the album an extra boost is the impressive production and mastering from Josh Welshnam.  Previously known as the brains behind promising one-man band, Autonomy, he has foreshadowed here a promising career behind the controls, helping bands achieve their prime sound and brutality.
The Disgorge-esque stylings of this record are unrelentingly punishing.  The opening track, "Suffered in Vivisection" begins with a slower riff, as if to warm you up for whats to come.  The mood is undeniably set, and the second half of the song throws you into a whirlwind of fast blasting riffs under half-discernible gutturals that are enunciated just enough to make you want to read along.
The whole album is riff after riff, providing little time to rest.
Josh (Guitar, Vocals) shows how it should be done.  It is mind-blowing listening to this when you realize the guitar and vocals are coming from the same person.  He has a real knack for changing up patterns between guitar and vocal riffs.  His lack of diversity in the vocal department is saved by a few occurrences of layered vocals, and his scrupulous, punctual enunciation, going along nicely with his guitar-work.
Yogi, the man behind the drums, has obviously been doing this for a long time.  Try as you may, and I have tried, but you will not find a dull moment in his perfect drumming performance.  The drums, for me, are what make this album.
A common complaint of mine is again an issue here: I wish the bass guitar (Adi) was a little more audible.  I here it thickening up the low-end, I just cannot tell if it is doing much else.  Being able to keep up at this pace is a feat of excellence for any bassist, turn it up!

The amazing artwork, from Jonrinz Art, gives an accurate visual representation of how I feel when this album is playing: I am being melted and torn into a thousand more versions of me!  Transformed from my decayed flesh!  He has many pieces of similar detail, check them out HERE.
Jonrinz Art-Ballpoint on paper 15,5 x 23,5 inches

Asphyxiate have been around for over 10 years now.  I am overcome with sadness and surprise when I say this is my first time hearing their music!  My next step is to check out their entire back-catalogue.
For now, I am thoroughly enjoying "Self Transform From Decayed Flesh," as should you!

Colpolscopy - Ready For Gore - Gore House Productions - 2013

Music, visual-art, different genres of music, types of dance:  Have you ever seen or heard something, only to think to yourself:  "I could never enjoy that!  How do people get into that sort of thing?!"
In steps Brutal Death Metal.  When I was in high school, I remember being more into straight-up Death Metal.  The name Cannibal Corpse was a household name, but really only because of my Butchered at Birth t-shirt, and my parents' disgust with it.  I actually got the shirt as a weird gift before listening to much Cannibal Corpse.  I really like the album Butchered At Birth, but do not not really care for all of CC's works.
I started out my heavy music quests with more symphonic stuff, I was a Cradle of Filth kid.  That quickly turned into years of delving into Death Metal and, while now I am prominently a fan of Brutal Death, I remain true to my Death Metal roots and revisit them from time to time.    If I met the high-school me on the street and told him that there was a genre different than Death Metal called Brutal Death Metal, high-school me would roll around laughing.  I am sure many people who don't enjoy this sort of thing still do laugh, that's fine, but you ought to know what you are laughing at.  Ok, enough ranting.

The album at hand for this review, Ready For Gore, from Southern California's Colpolscopy, was sent to me before I knew the band existed.  Hearing it now, I honestly probably would have skipped over it because of the art and the album title, neither of which caught by eye as being creative or well-thought-out.  I am, however, really happy Gore House Productions sent me this.  Listening to this album is what reminded me of what it feels like to start enjoying things you thought you never would.  Ready For Gore is chock-full of interesting, fun riffs and memorable slams, but it has a few things that you notice first.  Some of these things are the low, gurgling vocals and the smooth, near-perfectly mixed, audio that gives every instrument, and BOTH vocalists, tons of room to shine.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Ryan Gregory and Marcos Cortez share vocal duties here, and if you listen enough, you can hear who is who.  You get more than just two, distinct styles though.  There are insanely low, seemingly under-water gurgles, middle toned, gravelly gutturals, some decent high screeches, and countless in-between noises that just do not sound human.  A cool, organic, effect occurs throughout the album when both vocalists are layered on top of one another to sound like one.  This is, I guess you could say, the third vocalist!
The instrument that I would have expected there to be more than one of, is the guitar.  It is played by one man, Jesus Cortez.  The guitar compositions are definitely what allow this album to stand out.  Cortez combines generic slams with breakdowns and all over the place, grind-esque, fuzzed-out riffs that turn on a dime.
The band's name, album title, and artwork, all just had me picturing a band that would add to the rapidly growing landfill of one-hit-wonders who are out to achieve the hardest hitting slams and just use shock factor art and a medical term for a name.  I warn you, Colpolscopy is not that.  It is a medical term though, one that refers to a procedure to closely examine a cervix, vagina, or vulva for signs of disease.  There, now you know what to call that.

In today's world of countless sub-genres and fabricated labels, paired with the technology that gives us the ability to instantly judge things, a lot of art (music or other) gets swept under the rug too quickly. We all need to remember to keep open minds and remember, no matter what you are currently a fan of, you were not always, and may not always be, a fan of it!
I still do not much care for the cover art or album name, but the importance of those fades more and more with each listen.  The bouncy, thick production makes every riff on here seem to pound your head in.  The tone of the album as a whole reminds me a lot of Parasitic Ejaculation's full-length, "Rationing the Sacred Human Remains," (HERE) an album that singlehandedly, and rightfully so, put that band on every Brutal Death head's radar.  The drumming reminds me of that of Kraanium, only with more fills and tempo changes.
Much like the outstanding review (HERE) I gave to Lack of Truth's album "Under The Torn Flesh," this review is one I took a while to think about and write.  Ready For Gore may take a few listens, but I promise the product is worth it.
Overall, this album is a high-energy half-hour, where simplicity and barbarity meld together, throwing flashy production to the wayside.
Colpolscopy's Ready For Gore will be ready for you to score, officially released November 29th, 2013, on Gore House Productions.  I highly recommend giving it an attentive listen!  You will enjoy it!

Interview with Serge (Guitarist) of Epicardiectomy - 2013

Cerebral Reviewment-  Hello, thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions.  First of all, who are you and what do you do in Epicardiectomy?

Serge Gordeev-  Hey bro, Serge here, guitarist of Epicardiectomy.

CR-  What does Epicardiectomy mean?

SG-  Epicardiectomy means a surgical operation on the heart.  In the beginning, when our drummer Milan came up with this name, it was just a good sounding brutal death metal band name for us.  And actually, we hope that our music is really something that can give you a heart attack. hehe.

EPICARDIECTOMY
The surgical removal of the epicardium, usually performed in constrictive pericarditis to permit greater diastolic filling of the heart.
The epicardium is the inner layer of the pericardium, a conical sac of fibrous tissue that surrounds the heart and the roots of the great blood vessels.
The pericardium has outer and inner coats. The outer coat is tough and thickened, loosely cloaks the heart, and is attached to the central part of the diaphragm and the back of the sternum (breastbone).
The inner coat is double with one layer closely adherent to the heart while the other one lines the inner surface of the outer coat with the intervening space being filled with fluid.
This small amount of fluid, called the pericardial fluid, acts as a lubricant to allow normal heart movement within the chest.

CR-  Your new 2013 demo (Reviewed HERE) has the best sounding production you guys have ever had.  What was done differently?

SG-  Compared to our debut full-length, not many things, I would say.  We worked on vocal parts more this time, also the music itself is a bit different.  It's still slam but with a bit of classic brutal death metal touch.

CR-  Are you currently writing new material for your next full-length?

SG-  Yes, we are on 80% done with stuff for a new album, we hope we'll be able to release it in the spring of 2014.  We play a lot of shows which are slowing down the process of writing new material.  But be sure we are working on it all the time and I'm sure you guys won't be disappointed.  It will be 100% fucking Epicardiectomy.

CR-  What is your opinion on lyrics in Brutal Death Metal or Slam?

SG-  I think lyrics are an important part of it.  The vocals could be guttural and you are not able to hear a word of what is being sang, but when you can read the lyrics in the booklet and enjoy the atmosphere of the dark or disgusting stuff that is usually the main part of death metal lyrics, it gives you many more feelings with listening to the music.  At least for me it always was like that.

"Feasting on Putrid Hysterectomy Remnants"
Staring at my new art
Several bodies fall apart
Horrible stench magnetize me
Empty mind reflecting the scenes
Of basement butchery
Slashing amok dementia
Disemboweling the cleansed torsos of dirty whores
Lay down gutted inside out
Trash body bags
Mockery on the bodies
Shitting into the wounds of decapitation
Ulcerous anus fistfuck
Feasting on a rancid regurgitated wombs
Masticating the putrid hysterectomy remnants

CR-  Can you tell us a little about your writing process?  Do you enjoy the process of recording in a studio?

SG-  We usually compose the songs together with our drummer Milan in a rehearsal room.  I always come up with some ideas and riffs when we are doing the arrangements together.  After the instrumental part is ready, Tom (our vocalist), having the lyrics ready by this time, starts putting his part on it.  Sure, there are exceptions sometimes, but mostly it's done this way.  And yes, we love to record and really enjoy the process of studio sessions.  For us it's always a lot of fun.  Actually the whole process is more than standard, first we record drums, then guitar and bass and vocals in the end.

CR-  Many thanks to Serge and Epicardiectomy for the interview!  Cannot wait to hear that full-length!!!!

Embryonic Devourment - Reptilian Agenda - Deepsend Records - 2013

Artwork by Jon Zig

Lets jump back in time to Cephalic Carnage's prime.  Or maybe to what some may think of as after their prime: an album from 2007 called Xenosapien.  I remember first hearing it and thinking it was a really tiring record.  It was one that took many, many listens to get through to me.  When it finally did, it solidified its place amongst some of my all time favorite albums.  The past week or so, listening to Embryonic Devourment's new album, Reptilian Agenda, I was in a similar predicament.  Maybe I was reminded of that Cephalic Carnage record because it is only every six years or so that I have such profound reactions to works of music.  Reptilian Agenda definitely reminded me of Cephalic Carnage at times, but more so renewed by dying belief in modern death metal.

In so many reviews I talk a lot about the mixing and mastering and the production qualities and the blips and blaps that most people probably don't listen for nor care to read about.  It is refreshing to write about a record that could have probably been recorded with a lot worse production than it was, and it would still stand miles ahead of its peers.  Reptilian Agenda is that album.
At just under twenty-five minutes, I find myself wishing this were longer. I spend the entirety of each listen intensely tuned in, head bobbing along, impatiently waiting for the next song to begin, all the way until the end.  Usually, 'concept albums', or whatever you may call them, are not my thing.  I just think it's too hard to meld together great song writing with great story telling without coming off cheesy. Oddly this album is one that does this extremely well.  The band has done a great job here, considering the subject matter;

"The concept for this album is over the top Just to give you a glimpse, its an album about a Reptilian race from a planet called Nibiru.  This race has been manipulating our systems of power and governing the human race for thousands of years.  This is something we believe in strongly to be true.  Whether it be the reptilian serpents in the bible, the worship of Sobek Ra in ancient egypt, the dragon gods of Japanese history, the giant lizard statues found from ancient mayan/aztec civilizations, or the pyramid of sobek ra on our dollar bill.  We sometimes shapeshift into reptilian gods for our live show even.  We aren't the typical band and we don't have the typical sound.  We aren't gore based or satan based.  We are a conspiracy band focused on the Reptilian Agenda - for we are reptilians by nature.  Does this sound interesting?  Free your mind to other possibilities..."- Austin Spence (Bass, Vocals)
TAKEN FROM THIS INTERVIEW

So.......yeah, a surprising record to get be back into concept albums.  Perhaps it's the band's claims to truly believe this stuff.  More likely, for me, it's the sheer awesomeness of song-writing and diversity of death metal experienced throughout this half hour.
Not surprisingly, the lyrics are over the top also.  They are not about gore or rape or any brutal-to-be-brutal crap.  They are a good read, about a race that is taking us over and brainwashing us.  So, yes, they are political, but in a revealing way.  The lyrics, like the album, beg multiple reads and an alert yet open mind.
Overall, Reptilian Agenda is an amazing album.  You get diversity in riffs, vocals, and instrumentation.  More importantly, it is an incredibly cohesive story, from beginning to end.  Jon Zig provides beautifully haunting artwork to accompany.  Do yourself a huge favor by buying this one.  You'll get all the magnificent artwork inside, and all the lyrics.
