Nauseating - Subjected To Rot - 2024 - Vile Tapes Records

This 20 minute slab of skull-bashing slam was just released on Vile Tapes Records, a quickly rising label out of Russia.
"Subjected To Rot" opens with a haunting, cold, hip-hop esque beat/feel.  Then drops right into a mid-paced slam that sets the tone for the rest of the EP; a near perfect tone for whats going on with the instruments and the sheer barbarity that ensues.  Then the vocals begin.  Dear god the vocals.  This release may have the nastiest and lowest inhuman gutturals in a long time, surely out-doing anything yet this year.  To think, I haven't even mentioned the all-star roster of vocalists with features!  You will hear grunts and gurgles from D of PeelingFlesh, Andrew of Cerebral Incubation, and perhaps a newer voice to some of you, Rodger Fischer, also-known-as MC Cumblood, who specializes in Death metal/Gore Rap.  MC Cumblood and MC Bushpig make up Butcher's Harem, a Goregrind/Horrorcore/Rap group from Australia.

If "Subjected To Rot" had zero guest features, it would still have some of slam's most disgusting vocals.  Ivan Tyulkin (Nauseating, Insect Inside) is raising the bar for extreme gutturals recently.
Insect Inside has shared a couple videos of him recording vocals that showed just how low he can go.  This is already a couple of years old.
See a recent video of Ivan recording some vocals for "Subjected To Rot" HERE!

The 2nd track, "Dissect Vaginal Skin" is immediately catchy.  Warm, thick guitar and bass tones meet precise drumming and more insane vocals as the song wraps-up with one my favorite, Andrew from Cerebral Incubation.
Intestinal Disemboweling contains the tastiest slams yet, then grinds to an amazing halt, just to rebuild on itself and bash your brains in.  Then of course Damonteal of Peeling Flesh shows up to help on Incubation of Dismembered Bodies, with a crazy heavy section of skull slamming, pinch harmonics, groovy drums, etc.
The title track, "Subjected To Rot" is where MC Cumblood makes his grand entrance.  With the undeniable heaviness that precedes this track, his gore-growly rap style seems to fit.  It's new to me, and I am not AGAINST mixing rap into slam, as the similarities are there, but its the death growl approach to it that may grow old.  At any rate, it works here and isn't overdone.
The EP takes you on a ride, but it's really the perfect length.  Just when it starts to veer off, "Deformed Fragments" brings it all together for a nice, in-your-face, slam package of under 20 minutes.

This is really a must have release and you should purchase it on CD, Cassette Tape, Shirts, Patches, ETC...  HERE

Gouged Interview 2024

CAN YOU START BY STATING YOUR NAME AND YOUR ROLE IN THE BAND?

Yo, my name is Quinn and I'm the frontman of GOUGED
The other members of the band are Mikey on Guitar and Brando on Lead Guitar and Chris on Drums. At the moment we're seeking a solid full-time bassist.

HOW DID THE BAND START?

This band was formed by a group of close friends that all lived in the same city and were all from the same local scene in the area, so we decided to start our own project with influences from all our favorite bands, however along the way we auditioned a lead guitarist & he ended up being the perfect fit and shared the same vision as us to solidify the band even more

WHEN DOES THE NEW ALBUM "REALM OF DISGUST" COME OUT AND WHERE WILL FANS BE ABLE TO PURCHASE?

The album will be released by this summer 2024 on all major platforms

Art by Mark Cooper

WITH SUCH AN OVER-SATURATION OF BRUTAL DEATH/SLAM BANDS POPPING UP JUST TO SEEM "BRUTAL" AND SHOCKING, IT IS SO REFRESHING AND PROMISING TO LISTEN TO THE NEW SINGLE AND READ ALONG WITH THE LYRICS!  DEFINITELY A VERY BRUTAL TRACK WITH INSANE VOCALS AND ALSO TECHNICAL RIFFING FROM EACH INSTRUMENT. A REAL OLD SCHOOL DEATH METAL APPROACH, EVEN AN ACTUAL GUITAR SOLO!
CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE BAND'S WRITING PROCESS, BOTH INSTRUMENTAL AND THE LYRICS?

So, this band has been through alot in a short period of time, we all see each other as brothers and it was a lot of hard work, time, and dedication but we grinded and worked together to come up with this product. We program midi drums and write riffs into logic then bounce files to josh ( the producer ) at the end of the day we all are on the same page we all share the same influences and wanted to create something new that can hopefully be appreciated amongst the greats.

Check out track and read along to "Realm of Disgust" below :

SPEAKING OF THOSE GUTTURALS!  YOU SEEM TO HAVE PIPES THAT WE ALL SHOULD'VE HEARD BEFORE NOW!  I FOUND A CREDIT FOR THE DARK ALAMORTE THAT DOES SOUND LIKE YOU.  QUINN HAVE YOU DONE MORE?  OTHER PAST BANDS?

Yes, I have been in other projects. I started off with vocals in a band called AIL. We released an LP and a single & then called it quits. After AIL, I stepped back from vocals for a bit and started playing bass for a band called Destitute. After Destitute i got into a band called The Dark Alamorté which i did vocals for. You can find the track "Cruciform" on YouTube that shows multiple ranges I can display.

I SEE YOU'VE HAD THE PLEASURE OF WORKING WITH MARK COOPER, WHOSE ART I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED!  HOW DID THAT COME ABOUT AND WHAT WAS THE EXPERIENCE LIKE?

He's a real easy artist to work with and knew exactly the concept we were seeking, his work is some of the best i've seen & hope to continue to work with him on some future artwork concepts

IS THERE A STORY BEHIND THE "EVERY HOLE" SHIRT?  I ASSUME THIS IS FROM A TRACK OFF THE UPCOMING ALBUM?  WILL THERE BE MORE MERCH DESIGNS AS WELL?

Honestly we just thought the song title "Every Hole" just suit the band so well, we all thought it would be so epic to have it blasted on the back of a tee, the song will be featured on the ep so look out for that & yes we will be dropping some fresh merch when the record is released

I SAW VIDEO FROM BREAK & BLAST FEST IN SANTA ANA, CA EARLIER THIS YEAR AND I SEE YOU HAVE MORE LIVE SHOWS COMING UP AT THE END OF MARCH.  HOW HAVE THE LIVE SHOWS BEEN?  HOW IS THE SCENE IN YOUR AREA?

Break & Blast was a sick show, was awesome to share the stage with Cephalotripsy, the shows weve played so far have been good & the local scene is popping rn and death metal is thriving we cant wait to play more shows as soon as the Realm of disgust lp is released

I'D LIKE TO TOUCH BASE ON HOW BEAUTIFUL THE PRODUCTION SOUNDS?  WHERE WAS THE UPCOMING ALBUM RECORDED?  BY WHO?  WHO IS MASTERING?  SOUNDS GREAT!

Thank you, that's all done by Josh at Null Soundworks. Hes really honed in on our sound and we cant wait to show you all what the finished product will be.

I AM VERY VERY EXCITED FOR YOUR FULL-LENGTH RELEASE, AND I HOPE TO MAKE IT TO A LIVE SHOW IN THE FUTURE!  THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS!  ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO SAY TO YOUR FANS?

We'd love to have you out at one of our future gigs, come out and smoke some with yo dawg, stay tuned for Realm of Disgust.

THANK YOU TO QUINN AND GOUGED FOR ANSWERING THESE QUESTIONS!  WE ALL WAIT FOR MORE GOUGED!!!!
