Blast From The Past - Abnormality - 2010 - Mallika Sundaramurthy - Nidorous

I wrote this 14 years ago:

"Death Metal with good vocals, ones that you would totally say were not a woman.

Yes, that is a woman behind Abnormality's dialed in, precise, impressive guttural voice. This scene has a huge lack of female participants and followers, so I am always very happy to see this.

This release is a huge leap forward from their 2007 Demo. The songs are well put together and actually feel like they have different parts. The only problem I have with it is that there are only three songs on it! So I look forward to much more from Abnormality."

Looking back on it now, I actually enjoy that 2007 demo very much! Possibly in a different way, and I love the direction the band went in, but it showed a lot of promise early on.

Vocalist Mallika has come a long way and has continued to stay active in the scene; heading up numerous bands and running a label (Ultimate Massacre Productions) with husband Serge Gordeev (Epicardiectomy)

Abnormality had a long life, with 3 full-length albums.

Mallika currently does vocal in Unfathomable Ruination, Nidorous, and Emasculator.  Each of which are very worth checking out.  Nidorous was a true gem to stumble upon.  Check out a track below:

Interview with Serge (Guitarist) of Epicardiectomy - 2013

Cerebral Reviewment-  Hello, thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions.  First of all, who are you and what do you do in Epicardiectomy?

Serge Gordeev-  Hey bro, Serge here, guitarist of Epicardiectomy.

CR-  What does Epicardiectomy mean?

SG-  Epicardiectomy means a surgical operation on the heart.  In the beginning, when our drummer Milan came up with this name, it was just a good sounding brutal death metal band name for us.  And actually, we hope that our music is really something that can give you a heart attack. hehe.

EPICARDIECTOMY
The surgical removal of the epicardium, usually performed in constrictive pericarditis to permit greater diastolic filling of the heart.
The epicardium is the inner layer of the pericardium, a conical sac of fibrous tissue that surrounds the heart and the roots of the great blood vessels.
The pericardium has outer and inner coats. The outer coat is tough and thickened, loosely cloaks the heart, and is attached to the central part of the diaphragm and the back of the sternum (breastbone).
The inner coat is double with one layer closely adherent to the heart while the other one lines the inner surface of the outer coat with the intervening space being filled with fluid.
This small amount of fluid, called the pericardial fluid, acts as a lubricant to allow normal heart movement within the chest.

CR-  Your new 2013 demo (Reviewed HERE) has the best sounding production you guys have ever had.  What was done differently?

SG-  Compared to our debut full-length, not many things, I would say.  We worked on vocal parts more this time, also the music itself is a bit different.  It's still slam but with a bit of classic brutal death metal touch.

CR-  Are you currently writing new material for your next full-length?

SG-  Yes, we are on 80% done with stuff for a new album, we hope we'll be able to release it in the spring of 2014.  We play a lot of shows which are slowing down the process of writing new material.  But be sure we are working on it all the time and I'm sure you guys won't be disappointed.  It will be 100% fucking Epicardiectomy.

CR-  What is your opinion on lyrics in Brutal Death Metal or Slam?

SG-  I think lyrics are an important part of it.  The vocals could be guttural and you are not able to hear a word of what is being sang, but when you can read the lyrics in the booklet and enjoy the atmosphere of the dark or disgusting stuff that is usually the main part of death metal lyrics, it gives you many more feelings with listening to the music.  At least for me it always was like that.

"Feasting on Putrid Hysterectomy Remnants"
Staring at my new art
Several bodies fall apart
Horrible stench magnetize me
Empty mind reflecting the scenes
Of basement butchery
Slashing amok dementia
Disemboweling the cleansed torsos of dirty whores
Lay down gutted inside out
Trash body bags
Mockery on the bodies
Shitting into the wounds of decapitation
Ulcerous anus fistfuck
Feasting on a rancid regurgitated wombs
Masticating the putrid hysterectomy remnants

CR-  Can you tell us a little about your writing process?  Do you enjoy the process of recording in a studio?

SG-  We usually compose the songs together with our drummer Milan in a rehearsal room.  I always come up with some ideas and riffs when we are doing the arrangements together.  After the instrumental part is ready, Tom (our vocalist), having the lyrics ready by this time, starts putting his part on it.  Sure, there are exceptions sometimes, but mostly it's done this way.  And yes, we love to record and really enjoy the process of studio sessions.  For us it's always a lot of fun.  Actually the whole process is more than standard, first we record drums, then guitar and bass and vocals in the end.

CR-  Many thanks to Serge and Epicardiectomy for the interview!  Cannot wait to hear that full-length!!!!

Epicardiectomy - Deranged Self-Mutilating Emasculation - 2013 Demo -Coyote Records

The tin-can drums and bass heavy, fuzzy production that they are known for has quickly gone from a negative asset to a positive one for Epicardiectomy.  Whether it's their catchy, down tempo slams that pull you in or the raw power of all aforementioned production characteristics, matched against some of the nastiest gutturals of the genre, you are no doubt pulled in.  This year's two track demo only furthers the excitement.
Epicardiectomy was first widely noticed for THIS VIDEO, one that was not that flattering.  The video was hated on by nearly everyone who saw it.  Luckily, it got the name "Epicardiectomy" out there, and when they started releasing more music, people checked it out.  Maybe some of us were checking it out expecting to laugh at it, maybe not.  None of that matters anymore; one full-length and two demos later, Epicardiectomy have gained a huge following and more importantly, respect.
Musically, nothing substantial has changed over the years for this three-piece from Prague; mid-paced riffs colliding into slow slams over accent-heavy, surprisingly detailed drumming.  What has noticeably changed, for the better, are the vocals.  2012 brought us the band's first full length, "Abhorrent Stench of Posthumous Gastrorectal Desecration" and disappointed almost no one in doing so.  Drummer Milan Moškon has seemingly mastered controlling the pace of a song with technically simple drumming but creatively accenting things to be very impressive.  Serge Gordeev's guitar riffs are as catchy as ever but thankfully a little less saturated with static.  Clearer production on this demo has really done wonders to bring out even more of each band member's talent.  The previously shoddy vocals of Tomas are presented here with a renewed clarity and power.  His vocals are my favorite part of this release because of their clarity, power and thickness.
This demo displays a band that is calm, cool, collected and very good at what they do; aurally bashing your skull in.  I highly recommend that you pick this demo up!!!!

"Deranged Self-Mutilating Emasculation"

Obsessed by visions of dreadful necrophilia
The scenes of horrifying mutilation
Sweet stench of mortuary atmosphere
Grotesque mutilation
Desecrating the putrified cadavers
Longing lust for dead meat copulation
Zero tolerance and no respect
For ugly human remains

Dragging the corpse of the dead whore
Violently thrown on the ground
Entrails splashed out
From the unsewn stomach
Head cracked in half
And green stenchy pus
Spilled out on my legs

Furiously masturbating
Fingering her rotten holes
With the other hand
Deranged beast inside me unleashed

Start tearing off my foreskin
Screaming along with hideous crunch
My cock half-torn off, dripping with gore
Mixed with belch and rotting liquids
Ejaculating from the disgusting chasm
Where my cock used to be
Premortal satisfaction
Remain dead with my face
In the shredded corpse's womb

Epicardiectomy - Ulcerous Cadaveric Decrepitation - 2011 Promo

Ulcerous Cadaveric Decrepitation is a two song 2011 promo from Epicardiectomy, a three piece slam band from Czech Republic.

Tracklist:

1: Ulcerous Cadaveric Decrepitation

2: Phallus Decapitation

My opinion and enjoyment of this band have always been very up and down. I think they could be so much better and consistent with their sound. They were on a 3-way split last year with Dormant Carnivore and Kraanium, two bands I also enjoy, and it was a very solid release.

This two song promo, however, seems to be more of the same, with less production quality.  Less production quality is not always a bad thing.  It is in this case though.
Other than a super slow slam around the 2:15 mark of the title track, both of these songs stay at a very steady pace.  A pace that is set and creatively punctuated by the drums, which are what holds this band together.  Nicely fitting pinch harmonics that actually don’t get overwhelming, are heavily peppered throughout this promo.

It is by no means a bad release, and it is only a promotional two songs.  They have done their job by promoting and sparking a desire for me to hear more from the band soon!
Also enjoyable is the artwork of a guy who goes by Rhino, he lives right in the band’s hometown of Prague and does their artwork. He also does work for Gorepot, Gortuary, Kraanium to name a few.
