.357 Homicide - Immutable Lethality

Another 2-man Slammer, this time out of the UK.  .357 Homicide describe themselves as "Violent Slam".  I must say, this feels accurate to what I hear when I hit play on their most recent release, "Immutable Lethality".  A wonderfully raw sound, untampered with yet still perfectly balanced.  Not-to-mention this snare tone!!!!

I am a new fan of this band, and they are fairly young, having formed in 2020.  Despite only 4 years together, .357 have 1 EP, 2 Demos, and 3 Full Lengths that all seem to be crazy and worth checking out!  There are countless new Slam projects coming out weekly, most of which are hurried-along clout-chasing cacophonies that kill the listener with repetitious boredom.  This is NOT that.  "Immutable Lethality" is as unique and strange as it is classic Slam.  Please do support this band!

Hacked Up - Sacrificial Corpses Upon A Deity - NEW SINGLE

Andrew Blower is at it again.  Since the release of "The Rawest Form Of Combat", Hacked Up has been writing, recording, and promoting!  I was lucky enough to have Andrew answer a few questions a couple months ago (READ HERE) and now it is already time to check out a preview track off of an upcoming full-length!!!!
Art by Bakart Art

Right off the bat, this sounds like a triumphant return to where we left off on the EP.  Not crazy leaps and bounds from where we were on production value, but crispy and well-honed.  The rawness and fuzziness feels purposeful and reeks of classic Slam nostalgia.  I always hate it when the music seems to lack in creativity and writing, so the artist over produces everything.  Hacked Up comes at us every time with enough production to hear the balance of everything while still letting the writing ooze through.  Andrew stands behind the Slam he writes and trusts that the authenticity will be felt.  I have to say, I feel it!  This new stuff has me pumped for this full length!

Catchy, slow riffs that start off basic and build and layer from there are the backbone of this.  Then of course his solid and gritty gutturals over top.  This feels like if Torture and early Cephalotripsy had a little slam baby!  Can't wait to see this dudes growth! This is just the beginning of Hacked Up!!!

Hacked Up - Interview with Andrew Blower

CAN YOU START BY STATING YOUR NAME AND YOUR ROLE IN THE BAND?

I'm Andrew Blower I do all the music writing and vocals :)

HOW DID THE BAND START?

I've been writing slam for the past 10 years on and off.  I had a old project called axed up but changed the name to hacked up for this project .

COULD YOU DESCRIBE WHAT PEOPLE SHOULD EXPECT BEFORE PRESSING PLAY ON "THE RAWEST FORM OF COMBAT"?

The rarest form of combat will be 4 tracks of pure slamming brutal death \m/
I'm super picky when it comes to slam and this project is basically stuff I'd listen to myself .

JUST FROM LISTENING TO "DEFORMED WARSLAVE MONSTROSITY" I THINK PEOPLE ARE REALLY GOING TO DIG THE RAW, STRIPPED DOWN ASPECT TO THE SONG STRUCTURE.  AND THESE VOCALS!  HEAVY CEPHALOTRIPSY VIBES!  ONE OF YOUR INFLUENCES?  CAN YOU SPEAK A LITTLE ON SOME OF YOUR INFLUENCES?

Dude Cephalotripsy are one of my favourite bands it's a honour you would say it gives you cephalo vibes . I got a Cephalotripsy tattoo on my stomach I love them that much hahahah . Other inspirations are Gorevent and Myocardial Infarction.  I have played guitar and drums since I was 11 years old .

I'M LOVING THE LOGO AND THE ARTWORK!  WHO DID THOSE?

It was my tattoo artist that did my logo and artwork . I'm super happy with the logo it's exactly what I wanted . Hit her up on Instagram for logo designs  @megtattoos .

WILL THERE BE LYRICS POSTED ANYWHERE WITH THE EP, OR IN THE CD BOOKLET?
WHAT SORT OF THINGS DO YOU WRITE ABOUT?

Planning on doing cds soon and there will be lyrics . I write about war and torture methods from the old days . Sword and shield combat . I'm very inspired by berserk and dark souls franchise I'm a huge nerd for that stuff so I wanted to do  that as my concept .

HOW OLD ARE YOU?  BEEN IN ANY BANDS PREVIOUS TO THIS ONE?

I'm currently 30 years old . Back in like 2011 2012 i was in a few deathcore bands lmao got to play with martyr defiled which was sick as back then I loved them.

HOW DID YOU LAND ON THE CLASSIC NAME "HACKED UP"?

Like I said before had a old project called axed up but I changed to hacked up :) just nice and short and catchy. There's too many over complicated names now days and I wanted something short and sweet  that rolls of the tongue. Plus I suck at spelling hahaha

ANY PLANS FOR PLAYING SHOWS IN THE FUTURE?

100 percent want to do shows at the minute I've got my best mate who wants to do guitar just need to sort out a sick drummer so I can do just vocals \m/ if not I'll have to do a 357 homicide on the ting hahaha

ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY TO OUR READERS OR ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SAY AT ALL?

Next release will be a full 8 track album , most of it is already written . If we get enough support I will do merch I would love that . I collect slam merch so it means alot to me . Keep it slam \m/ Thanks for the interest and the interview it means a lot to me <3

The EP drops February 9th!
