Subjugated - Interview 2026

Hello and thanks for chatting with us!!!  Who is this and what do you do in Subjugated?

Hello guys! This is Xabat! Thank you for reaching out and for supporting us!

Subjugated is a band from Basque Country, founded in 2023 with members from bands such as Carnivorous Voracity, Virulency, Putrid Torso and Necrocake among others. Our current line up is: Igor (vox), Oskar (bass), Edgar (drums), and Turbine and Xabat (guitars).

Three of us played together in Carnivorous Voracity and never really stopped. We started composing new songs in 2023 and finished this album in 2024. We had been recording them and preparing for the upcoming dates (TBA). Our first show was on 1st. November 2025, and it was so sick!  Now we're looking forward to the record label to announce album releasing date, and start playing gigs!

The demo track is full of blasting bdm and some slams, is the full-length much different?  What can you tell us about it?

"Impenitence Discipline" is the most representative song you will hear in the whole album, and we are very proud of it! The full length will include eight devastating songs! And yes, we love the intensity of BDM, frenzied and merciless blasts, with some slamming riffs and also brutal growls. Hope you can give us your feedback soon...

How was it working at Ebola room and ESnSE Studios?

We had a few choices but finally we decided to work with the mentioned two.  

It was very easy to record vocals, bass and guitars in Ebola Room Studios. Our singer is the engineer there, so he helped a lot in this process, of course.

In ESnSE Studios you can find working Lampr3a band members ( check them if you like very technical & instrumental music!)It was a pleasure to record with them the drum lines and master the album. We are delighted with the result because all of them are huge professionals and they easily understood what we are looking for. 

So, we highly recommend ESnSE Studios and Ebola Room Studios, for sure.  The album was recorded on final weeks of 2024, and first ones of 2025.

Who is doing the art for the new record?

The artwork is made by Khaos Diktator . He took our ideas and drawed a piece that should be exposed in a museum as an art itself! The artwork was even better that we ever thought! Hope you can see it soon too!

How has it been working with Amputated Vein?

We worked with Masakatsu in the past with Carnivorous Voracity, and we were pleased with how it worked, so it was an easy decision to us. We didn't even look at any other label, to be fair. Masa is a very professional guy to work with, and Amputated Vein Records is a great label with great bands!!!

Who are some of your influences?

We all have a little different influences, but we all like Disavowed, Disgorge, Visceral Disgorge, Cerebral Effusion.

Anything you’d like to say to your fans?

Yes, we would like to thank the ones who supported Brutal Death Metal and Subjugated especially!!  The ones who bought our Merch, attended our shows, or even the ones who are interested in this interview as of course you for the questions itself!!

Yo Mats, thanks for sitting down to answer some questions!! 

 How have you been? 

Hey man, I've been doing good, you know.. Busy with life and playing slams all over the world , haha. 

It's been almost 5 years since we heard from Diphenylchloroarsine, but we know it's members have other shit going on. Can you tell us about other musical projects you guys have been working on? 

Well I'm super busy with Kraanium as usual and we are working hard on booking shows for next year as well as writing a new album so we are busy as hell . As for other projects I have one named Cadaveric Necropsy in the work where we written and released a promo track so far and have an album planned for release through Rotten music some time next year. Going through some line up changes now so it's moving a bit slow. 

And a new project in the making and it's very exciting and will be very heavy and a lot inspired by the earlier russian slamming style. Benny is doing vocals on this one. Have written and recorded about half the album, including a couple of juicy covers as well. Still searching for a label with that one. 

Now can you get into the new album? How long have you guys been working on it, what stage is it in currently? 

We have been working on it since autumn. So far all music has been laid down, still polishing the final product. Also about half the vocals are done ,then we are also working on finalizing the concept and finding the right artist to capture our ideas for the cover art. Been a very fun and creative process with lots of slamming and late night drinking. 

Congrats on signing with Amputated Vein! How did that come about?

Well I was on vacation in Japan in April of 2025 and then off course I hooked up with my good bro Masa from Amputated Vein recs, He took me to a killer gig there and after that we hung out at my hotel , drinking and talk about shit and he said that he wanted to sign any of my bands or projects for a future release and off course i took him up on it. 

Have there been any line-up changes that we need to know about? 

No line up changes, still me ,Benny and Paul as always . Keeping it OG hehe.

So we know the theme of the album is decided, is there already artwork? Can we see?! 

Haha sneaky sneaky, no artwork yet as it's a work in progress to decide 100 percent what artist we will work with this time. But we will go for a cold and snowy theme with lots of colder colours this time around.

Any differences in the writing or recording process this time around?

Well this time we did all the recording and hanging out and writing process in my waifu inspired man cave rather than Benny's dark n gritty dungeon at Snuff chamber studios cos it was not possible at this time.

Other than that the process of writing the new material has been pretty much the same as always: We get together, have some drinks and just let the creative juices flow. 

When can fans expect to hear a single off of the album?  

That will not be possible this time around due to content I cannot disclose at this time, but we will tease with some snippets here and there before the album releases.

Pestilectomy Interview 2024

I am honored and excited to bring you some Q and A with the one-and-only Pestilectomy.

They had one of 2022's best slam records with "From Vulnerable To Funeral" and just dropped a brand new insane EP on RealityFade.  If you don't know this band, you are fucking up.  Enjoy the interview below!

Thank you so much for taking to time to do this! Can we just start with who we are speaking

to and your role in the band? And of course anything about you!

Dustin: I’m Dustin and do guitars/bass and

songwriting

Len: I'm Len, I perform the vocalizations

Felix: I play drums

As soon as I was able to listen to "Soundtrack To An Embalming Room" the entire way

through, I knew I had to talk to you guys. The EP is bursting at its disgusting seams with

unique riffs and slams and song structures that take us on a ride.  I love it!

I am admittedly a newer fan, and I wasn't familiar with any of the band's back catalogue. I

have since familiarized myself and, I'm sure, my neighbors. For our readers who may be

discovering you now, could you talk a little about where it all started and how we ended up

here? Was the name always Pestilectomy? What does that mean? How did you all meet?

How would you try and sum up the last 7 or so years? Tell us anything!

Len: Name was originally Pestilent, but like some crazy shit happened with all that. It's a weird story. I don't know how that name got chosen because I wasn't a member when Pestilent was founded. 

I got on board for vocals because the original singer died in a motorcycle crash. 

We did a EP and album with that name, then later we got threatened with legal bullshit by someone who owned a clothing brand or something called Pestilent who even harassed our fans so we just decided to change the name to Pestilectomy so we could sell merch again andavoid being sued. A lot of people see our name and think "the fuck? another -ectomy band??"but they're unaware that the name is basically a joke. We just took the old name and suffixed it with "ectomy" for the trope. Some fans have come up with their own interpretations of what "pestilectomy" as a word means but to us it doesn't mean anything. Just sounds cool.

Where would you rate "Soundtrack To An Embalming Room" among your other releases? Has each one surpassed the last? 

How has this recent EP been received by your fans?

Dustin: Definitely our most thought through material to date

Len: Best we've ever done. Cool to see the reactions

Alongside the amazing chops on your guitarist and drummer, these vocals straight up melt my

face. So many different sounds and all disgusting! Len, how long have you been at it? Did 

you or do you practice a lot or does this just kinda come natural and you mess around with it?

Len: I started the vocals thing when I was like 15, I just remember first hearing bands like

Cradle of Filth or Job for a Cowboy back then and I became I utterly obsessed with how the

human voice can sound so inhuman so I knew I had to find out how to do that somehow. I'm

almost entirely self taught, nobody ever tutored me and YouTube tutorials didn't really help

either.

How about Dustin and Felix? How long have you each been at it? Have there been other bands?

Dustin: I’ve been playing guitar on and off since 2011 but really started digging into it around 2018ish.   I had several other projects but the most noteworthy would be my deathcore project “Cogitations” that also released its debut album earlier this year

Felix: I started paying drum in the age of 14 and open my first band a few months after.  My

first group was a metalcore project called „Maleachi“. 

We released 2 EPs and played some gigs. Things starting to get more serious, when a friend and me founded the deathcore

unit "I Watched Myself Sleep". 

After releasing a bonecrushing LP I joined slamdown titans

"Chamber of Malice" and toured different countries around the globe.

 We played a backyard

show in Las Vegas where I met Len, and from that I joined Pestilectomy in 2018.

How has working with Reality Fade been? What other labels have you worked with?

Len: Amputated Vein reissued our EP from when we were Pestilent. Masakatsu is such a

wonderful person, but we haven't spoke in years.

Dustin: Working with RealityFade has been nothing but an awesome experience

with both Pestilectomy and my other project. Dimitri handles stuff as professional as it can be

How would you describe Pestilectomy's fan-base?

Dustin: Weird, like us.

What did you guys grow up listening to?

Dustin: I grew up listening to the metal stuff my parents listened to. Basically early Metallica,

Slayer, Rammstein which eventually got me into Slipknot and Death Metal like Cannibal 

Corpse, Six Feet Under etc when I was like 11ish. The rest is history haha

Len: When I was in middle school I liked a lot of rap that was popular at the time like Lil Wayne

and DJ Khaled. Also, alternative music like Flobots, Apocalyptica, 30 Seconds to Mars. At

some point I found Slipknot thanks to MTV2, and I just found more brutal stuff from there. My

family doesn't listen to extreme metal so I never got into it from them

When it's not brutal extreme music, what are you listening to these days?

Dustin: For me its all across the board like US hip hop/trap, cheesy power metal like

Dragonforce, Rhapsody etc, black metal all the way to Japanese music like vkei, j-goth/rock,

some Eurobeat and all that other weeb shit ha ha. As long as it’s catchy, I dig it

Len:

I've been a fan of soundcloud rap like Bones or Bladee and the like for over a decade.

Currently I'm obsessed with Playboi Carti and everyone else a part of Opium. 

In fact Carti's Whole Lotta Red record that we paid homage to via making that album art into a Pestilectomy shirt was my idea.

I do like a lot of lofi indie rock/emo stuff too like Teen Suicide and Elliott.

Also lately i've been loving witch house such as Salem and White Ring, I kind of want to start a

lofi witch house project because it's just so flame.  I'm not even an electronic music sort of

person but the atmosphere of the genre is

impeccable, if not black metal-reminiscent even.

Just this month I visited Louisiana so I took an addiction to sludge metal back home with me;

I'm so hooked on Acid Bath and Iron Monkey right now.

What are your hobbies/favorite things to do?

Len: hang out with homies, play old PlayStation 2 games in my shed, shoot some pool, make

money.

Dustin: Being goofy with friends, making music/practicing guitar, hitting the gym and some

video games, mostly oldschool RuneScape atm haha

Can you tell us the story of how you came up with the title "Soundtrack To An Embalming

Room"?

Len: I just randomly come up with titles that sound fire and I keep them in my notes.

Sometimes it'll be many months or years til they get used

Who did the artwork?

Dustin: Aziz @BLCXSTRY.ART (@aziz_blcxstry)

Can you tell us a little about the writing and recording process for Pestilectomy?

Dustin: I mostly start with demoing random riff ideas along with basic drums, sometimes 

more sometimes less in one session.  Eventually some of these get scrapped or reworked 

and put together, the drums get more detail to form the song how I imagine it.  When the 

song base is done it gets sent over to Felix who revises the drums.  When the revised 

drums are done I sometimes do some fine-tuning to some sections/riffs or add another 

idea that fits Felix drums ideas.  When the instrumental is done we send it over to Lennon 

who records vocals over it.

What can we expect from Pestilectomy in the near future?

Dustin; Hopefully get STAER on vinyl, and some visuals. As well as promo for our 2 cover

songs we released on our “Ministry of Molested Necrophiles” single in 2020!

Who are some bands you guys really take influence from?

Felix: I started to play drums because of Slipknot. Rings of Saturn influenced my playing style

back in 2017

Len: for gutturals the Japanese band Disconformity has always been my main inspiration, but

for this new EP I also did a new scream style that was very inspired by Embalmer, Cryptopsy

and especially Damonacy.

Dustin: When songwriting I write what I personally dig and that’s a combination of the stuff I grew to love over the past 15+ years so it’s hard to pinpoint specific bands for me

Can you name any up-and-coming bands that we should check out?

Len: I'm not a huge fan of newer bands, at least not in the slam genre these days, but Insect

Inside and Torture are exceptions. They're both so flame.

Dustin: For slam “Axiomatic Dematerialization” and “Ungraceful” come to mind first

Both put out some bangers in 2023/2024

BLASTFROMTHEPAST - Gortuary - Awakening Pestilent Beings - 2010

 

I love this album! Groovy slams, technically creative riffs, and great guitar solos! Guitarist is none-other-than Andres Guzman of Cephalotripsy and Sobek fame.  The vocals on this record, and the next, are also amazing. With 8 songs, clocking in at about 20 minutes, this leaves you wanting more!

The band's last album, "Divine Indigenous Sacrament," was released over 5 years ago. I think the band is still together, but have seen no action! Gortuary I miss you!

Gortuary is a wonderful brutal death metal band that just needs to get back at it! 

Interview with Italian Death Metal legends; Sickening - Allesandro Materassi

 

"The Death King" marks the 4th full length offering from this Brutal Death Metal merchant out of Florence, Italy.  We were lucky enough get a few questions answered by the band's guitarist Alessandro.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview!  I have been a massive fan of the band since ignorance supremacy, and I am so happy to get to ask some questions!  Who am I speaking with today?  What is your role in the band?

Hi, Alessandro here, I'm the guitarist of the band, and founding member. Thank you for the opportunity to talk about our music, we really appreciate it and we are really pleased you like our music.

 

 

It has been 20 years since first promo, is that when the band started?  Tell us about how Sickening started!

 

Even if the first demo was released in 2005, the band was founded in 2003 by me along with the previous guitarist Marco and the singer Claudio. We were all crazy about brutal death metal and we decided to start writing music together, so we searched for a drummer a bass player and start the project.

 

 

What first got you into Brutal Death Metal?  it must have been a gradual transition to end up here?  What sort of music influenced you as a teenager?

 

I speak for myself, but “tomb of the mutilated” is probably the album that got me into this type of music, from that moment I started to listen to many brutal death metal bands, mainly from the usa, such as suffocation, deeds of flesh, gorgasm and so on.
Of course I started gradually and before that I was into heavy metal and thrash metal, I grew up as a kid with the classics (iron maiden, metallica, slayer) but I soon realized that I really liked a more extreme sound best, and so I started to listen to classic death metal until I found Cannibal Corpse, as I said before.

 

How has the writing process of "The Death King" been different from previous albums?  Everything gone smoothly?

 

The songwriting of the death king went different for the fact that we don’t have a resident drummer yet, so I wrote all the album by myself ahahah, even the drum parts (except for 2 songs where the drum was written by our old drummer), so it took a little more time to be finished. But I can say I'm really proud of how all the songs came out.

 

Is the band planning any live shows soon?

 

Yeah, for sure, the album was released on 2^nd of February, and now we are searching for gigs to promote it, and maybe a tour, who knows.

But we have various options that we will reveal in the coming months.

 

How to you think the current Death Metal scene is different from 20 years ago?

 

I think nowadays we have more bands but this doesn't mean more quality. 20 years ago every band tried to have its unique sound, while at the present moment it's difficult to find a band with a peculiar sound, and if you think about that you understand why many of the bands who played 20 years ago are still active and well known in the death metal scene today: because of their uniqueness.

I think having a clear style is fundamental in every type of music.

 

How has it been trying to keep the band active and writing all these years?  I'm assuming you all have families?  How is the support from your family and friends?

 

Well, our families always support us in playing music, and beyond that me and Claudio work in the music scene of our city, so is not difficult to keep playing in a band or more and working at the same time. Even Edoardo, our bass player, has a job that allows him to play in various bands. I think we are lucky for this, because otherwise growing up it's always harder to find time to dedicate to writing and playing gigs, with family and work  that can keep you busy all the time.

 

What up and coming Italian bands should we check out?

 

I will disappoint you but there aren't new good bands I can recommend you in Italy, just the old ones that continue to write good music, the scene is a little boring nowadays.

 

How do you guys go about writing lyrics?

 

The last two albums were concept albums so the lyrics are based on the plot of the original two movies. Our second album doesn't have any lyric while the first has generic theme like: death, suicide, hunger, classic death metal cliché ahahah.

Anyway our singer Claudio wrote all of them.

Are you all pleased with how "The Death King" turned out?

 

Yeah, definitely. We are stoked both by the artwork Armaada Art did and with the sound: we recorded the drums at MK2 Studio of Davide Billia (ex-drummer of Putridity, Hour of penance, Beheaded) and the drums were played by Marco Coghe (Devangelic, Posthuman Abomination) who did a really great work.

We recorded guitar, bass and vocals at our studio), while the mix was done by Jonathan Mazzeo at The Grid Studio and the master was done by Chris Donaldson of Cryptopsy.

The album sounds massive and powerful, is our darkest and fastest album for sure.

Postcoital Ulceration - Continuation of Defective Existence After Multiple Ruinous Collapses - 2014 - Ghastly Music/Amputated Vein

I am so happy to re-visit this album, because it now looks like the band will have another full length out this year!!  Postcoital Ulceration in the Serbian-slamming-brutal-techdeath brain-child of Andrey Alogrin.  I have tried to reach out to him and find any more info, and I cannot!   A post on the band's facebook page from October of 2023 reads:

"We have been reborn with a new lineup and are filled with new strength. Therefore, we would like to introduce you to our new logo."

With the history of little-to-no movement from the band online, no updates, and no replies this news leaves me excited but honestly not that hopeful.  At any rate, I am pleased that the news reminded me of their full-length album!

This is an album that gets better and better over the years.  I hear new details and new things I like with each listen; the intricacies in the drum patterns, the variation in vocals, the unrelenting heaviness!

Even after re-familiarizing myself with it and then waiting about a week, I turned it on and it felt heavier yet again.  From researching the very limited info online about this project, I believe Andrey wrote and played all instrumental parts, and vocals were done by Vitaly Chumakov (Disfigurement of Flesh).

They really went all out with the artwork (Remy Cooper - Headsplit Design), Production (TsunTsun), and song titles and lyrics.

Parasitic Ejaculation - Echoes of Depravity - Amputated Vein Records - 2014

Echoes of Depravity is the second full-length from Californian outfit Parasitic Ejaculation.
The band has also released a considerable amount of material on splits or demos.
It seems as though every member of Parasitic Ejaculation has mastered their individual craft and, over time, have coalesced into a rather original brutal death/slam band, in a world that has been over-saturated with copies and copies of whatever people think sounds the most brutal.  Well, Echoes of Depravity not only provides soundscapes far beyond 'brutal', but it is a much-welcome retreat from the boredom that has become Brutal Death Metal.
I could sit here and write about how the subtle nuances of the guitar playfully frolic with the blasts and how I wished the bass was a little further forward in the mix.  In fact, I have written many a review in that ilk.  They are fun to write and you can easily get away with sounding like you are smart.  Truth is, I am as smart as the next genius, and I'll just say it like I hear it; Echoes of Depravity is the best and grossest splat of (infected) jizz from Parasitic Ejaculation thus far, and possibly of the year.
Jonathan Neel commands full attention and displays the most improvement from previous efforts.  The range of his vocals throughout this album is wide enough to have you wondering if it's all him even when it is.  There are a couple guest vocalists though.  Bill Foster (Short Bus Pile Up), and Jeremy Scott (Logistic Slaughter) both appear on the album, i just won't tell you where.

Michael Mostachetti's riffing on the guitar is simply the catchiest shit of 2014.  Parts of this album have some very, very experimental guitar work.  As always, one of my favorite aspects of this group, is the shaky, powerful bass tone coming from bassist Josh Schwartz.  It is also perfectly mixed in to let each stroke, pluck, or slap be heard with ease.  The dude has chops.  Donovan Dettle, drums, stays simple at times and then gets very creative at others, something becoming harder to find.  Nothing is out of place and songs flow very well together.
Production has taken an obvious step forward, which may lead some fans astray.  I mean, after-all, if you appreciate a band's production sound past their first release, you aren't raw.  You're fully-cooked.  What?
The clarity of the production here only aids the listener in hearing all the details in the music.
Also amazing are the lyrics!!  The lyrics are incredibly well thought-out, evil, disgusting, and just fun to read!  When you read along while listening, you really get to see how good this vocalist is.
That being said, I will take this time to tell the band to please rename "Parasitic Spinal Mutation" to "P.R.E.A.M."

Parts of Echoes are very technical, slams are prevalent, and the songwriting is creative and fun.
The passion is there.  Buy this album.
